The city is also seeking a $300,000 grant from ODOT for the $1.8 million in improvements planned as part of the expansion at Columbia and Kingsview Drive, near Interstate 71. The city is expected to finance the rest of the road project, about $1 million, through its Tax Incremental Financing Fund.
“The improvements to Columbia Road will not only benefit the ADVICS expansion, but also improve the road frontage for 85 acres of undeveloped industrial property, in addition to the main corridor serving Columbia Business Park,” according to the JobsOhio application.
Earlier this year, the Warren County Port Authority approved an amendment to an existing agreement with ADVICS, a Japanese manufacturer of motor-vehicle brakes, for expansion of the brakes parts plant which employs more than 600 workers.
The expansion would include a new employee entrance, new or improved parking for 600 cars and “enhanced security features,” according to the agreement.
The port authority holds leases securing its support for the ADVICS expansions. The agreements enable the company to avoid sales tax.
ADVICS officials declined to comment.
