Miami Valley Hospital performed the first minimally invasive procedures with a surgical robot system four years ago. Since then, its medical staff has performed more than 1,000 of the procedures, according to Dr. Marion Brown, the hospital’s medical director of surgery.
Complex operations performed with the surgical robot system include prostatectomies, hysterectomies, myomectomies, heart valve repair and colorectal surgeries.
The hospital said it has performed more gynecological procedures using the da Vinci robotic system than any other hospital in Ohio.
