New guitar shop opens in Piqua

DAYTON — Guitar enthusiast Bill Walters has opened a shop selling instruments and accessories in Piqua, according to a news release.

Walters, who recently retired from 30-year career in insurance, opened Piqua Guitar on July 26. Walters’ daughter, Melissa, will be the general manager for the 110 W. Ash St. store, the release states.

The store stocks new, used and reconditioned electric, acoustic and classical guitars. It also carries consignment guitars, bass guitars, amplifiers, strings, picks, tuners and other accessories, the release states.

Both of the Walters have gone to luthier school and will offer guitar-repair services, but also will send more complicated repair jobs off-site.

Bill Walters retired from Miami Mutual Insurance last month.
