Oakwood’s iconic toy store to remain open under new ownership

Oakwood’s iconic Blue Turtle Toy Store will remain open under new ownership in the Shops of Oakwood.

Original owner Carolyn Meyer, who opened the store in 1999, announced months ago that she planned to close the store in May and retire. She has now sold the store to local resident Cathy Tapogna, who will continue selling toys, games, books and puzzles.

The store will remain located at 2314 Far Hills Ave. between Triangle and Peach Orchard Avenues in Oakwood.

“I was drawn to the store for a number of reasons and after observing how passionate the local customers were about the store, the decision to keep it open was an easy one to make,” Tapogna said. “I want the store to continue to be a unique shopping experience for both children and the young at heart.”

Items are arriving daily to replenish the inventory, and a new website is also being developed.
