The Ohio Air Quality Development Authority approved $1.75 million for new energy-efficient windows for St. Clair Lofts, a 110-year-old downtown Dayton building being renovated by Lindy-Zell Dayton Lofts LLC.

The LLC was approved for up to $1.75 million in bond financing to replace original single-pane windows with more modern, energy efficient windows as part of a project to develop 108 apartments and retail space in the building at 35 S. St. Clair St., the authority said in a release.

The authority also approved $1 million for Tomco Machining, Inc. in Springboro, a manufacturer of precision duct-type and tubular assemblies for aerospace and other industries.

The company is building a 24,000-square-foot plant on Industry Lane in the West Tech Business Park. The authority approved $1 million in bond financing for energy efficient improvements and an on-site solar electric system.

In June last year, Tomco said it was leaving North Dayton, its home of 17 years, for Springboro.

In all, the authority approved nearly $6.9 million for four Ohio businesses this week. The authority also approved projects in Cincinnati and Kenton.

The authority “plays an important role in helping to finance the economic and environmental success of many Ohio businesses throughout the state,” Christina O’Keeffe, the authority’s executive director, said in a release. “The projects approved at our January meeting are great examples of small and large companies that are improving air quality by reducing harmful pollutants, sustaining jobs and supporting the growth of their communities.”
