The program is called Project TEEM (Teaching Energy Efficiency Measures). Those who qualify will receive a free, on-site home energy audit to determine areas in need of energy-efficiency improvements. Technicians from the Community Action Partnership agency in Dayton will then do the energy-efficiency improvements deemed necessary, at no cost to the customer.
To apply for the program, homeowners should contact the Community Action Partnership at (800) 617-2673 or go online to www.vectren.com.
Vectren said it provides at least $2 million annually to fund the Project TEEM initiative, begun in 2005. The program is in addition to state and federally funded home weatherization programs for homeowners whose annual household income can be up to 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
The program has funded insulation and weatherizing improvements of 2,300 Miami Valley residences since 2005, helping those homeowners to reduce energy usage by as much as 25 percent and lower their energy bills, Vectren said.
