The new releases will include:
• Maxxdout Stout, an American stout aged in bourbon barrels from the Smooth Amber distillery in West Virginia, which will be sold starting at 3 p.m. on Dec. 17 in 22-ounce bottles. There will be a limit of two bottles per person for the stout, which contains 9.5 percent alcohol by volume and will cost $15 per bottle.
• Gaunt Hill, an old-ale style brew aged in rye whiskey barrels also from the Smooth Amber distillery, which will be sold starting at noon on Dec. 24 in 750-ml bottles for $20 each. There will be a two-bottle limit on the ale, which contains just under 12 percent alcohol. The brewery will be open noon to 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve day.
Earlier this year, the brewery bottled a batch of barrel-aged Captain Stardust saison-style beer, and it sold out within 48 hours.
“That told us something,” Wolters said. The brewery has “quite a few more” brews aging in barrels now for future release, she said.
