Jones-Hufford pleaded guilty to one count of trespassing in a habitation, a fourth-degree felony, and may also face a fine up to $5,000, a prison term of 6 to 18 months, and up to 5 years of probation, court documents said.
As part of the agreements, all indicted charges were dismissed for both Thomas and Jones-Hufford. Both were indicted on one count of attempting to commit aggravated burglary, though Thomas was also indicted on one count each of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation and felonious assault.
Thomas and Jones-Hufford were later charged via bill of information with aggravated assault and trespassing in a habitation, respectively, according to court records.
The charges reach back to July 29, when investigators said the pair tried to break into an apartment in the 4600 block of Midway Avenue.
According to an affidavit, Jones-Hufford kicked in the back door of the apartment and the resident started shooting at her.
“She believed [Jones-Hufford] was trying to break into her apartment in order to harm her,” the affidavit said.
Thomas returned fire at the resident, investigators said, before the pair fled with vehicles of people who came with them.
Investigators said they found shell casings in the parking lot and near the apartment, and an officer noticed several bullet holes in the brick outside the apartment and inside the unit.
Law enforcement also got video of the attempted break-in from the apartment complex.
Thomas and Jones-Hufford are scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 21 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court by Judge Susan Solle.
