It takes a village to put on an outdoor art show. The village of Yellow Springs and specifically, The Village Artisans.

The 32nd annual Art on the Lawn will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, featuring approximately 100 artists with art and fine crafts for sale. Five of these artists are members of The Village Artisans in Yellow Springs. Amy Achor, a longtime Yellow Springs resident, will be featuring her symmetrical photo-compositions.

“I consider myself not a photographer, but an artist who uses photography as my medium. My unique process takes this medium into another dimension,” said Achor, also co-chair of the event. “My Vision Quest series seeks spiritual power through exceptional vision. The inspiration for these was the result of a very powerful, emotional and mystical experience.”

Natural elements are prominent in her pieces, and present the base for her Mandala series. Images of butterflies, flowers and leaves are layered and repeated from a single photograph. Her wall art may be viewed at www.WildWomanPhotos.com.

Other Village Artisan members exhibiting: Pam Geisel of Yellow Springs, quilting; Leah Grommon of Beavercreek, oil/acrylic painting/knitting; Mary Kleismit of Springfield, semi-precious stone jewelry; and Cynthia McDonald of Cedarville, dried gourd art.

Other new and returning artists will gather under the shade trees in the heart of the village. Jewelry, paper-craft, paintings, drawings, caricatures, garden art, ceramics, glass, fiber art, accessories, and more will be available.

The featured artist this year is Bob Pozarski. He’s been an architectural glass artist since 1976, and won Best of Show last year. He incorporates blown glass, prisms, pressed-glass tiles and fused glass by melting two or more glass types in a kiln. He creates windows, vases, ornaments, lamps, leaded boxes, vessels, and paperweights.

Pozarski teaches classes at the Peninsula Art Academy in Peninsula, Ohio, and he has won numerous awards for his art glass. Currently he displays leaded art glass windows at Canal Fulton Glassworks and the Peninsula Art Academy.

The event includes food vendors and music. Village Artisans includes the artist cooperative of 18 artists and a gallery/shop at 100 Corry St.
