A new glider theater has recently been launched at the WACO Air Museum in Troy. The one-of-a-kind theater is a scale replica of the the original WACO CG4A glider that was designed by the WACO Factory and chosen by the military to use in WW II.
Visitors can sit inside the glider — like the troops did — and watch a video of the manufacturing process and the actual performance of the glider in the Europe and Asian sites. The WACO Factory in Troy produced more than 1,000 of the CG4A, while additional gliders were manufactured at locations all over the country.
The WACO Aircraft Company was the largest manufacturer of civil aircraft in the country in the late 1920’s and early 30’s and the museum is dedicated to the plant and the employees that made it great. The theater experience is included in the museum admission price. Admission is $6 for adults; $5 for military with ID and $3 for students. Children under 6 are free.
The museum is located at 1865 S Co Rd 25A in Troy. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

The Fall League” screens in Cooperstown
The documentary film, “The Fall League,” was selected for screening at the 2015 Baseball Film Festival in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York. The special weekend was held in September.
The movie, about seniors and softball, captures the story of Dayton’s senior slow-pitch leagues, the “magnet” leagues which attract players from Troy, Sidney, Tipp City, and Vandalia as well as Dayton, Cincinnati, Springfield and Columbus.
The film focuses on the importance of the game to family relationships, the bonding and camaraderie among players, and the topic of aging. It highlights military veterans in the league, and explores the relationship between team sports and military experience.
The Fall League was produced by Taller Trees Productions, a Dayton-area production company headed by Tim Gebard (producer), Jennifer Taylor (director) and Dean Vincent (co-producer). The film features an original motion picture soundtrack, composed by Gebard and recorded at Vincent’s Studio D in New Carlisle.
“The Fall League” was also shown at Louisville’s International Festival of Film.
