The four sites are under contract to purchase and are projected to be 2,000 square feet, stand-alone shops that seat about 30 customers and have drive-through service, Gilligan said. Each will hire the equivalent of 12 full-time positions. The locations include:
• 9010 Dayton-Lebanon Pike, at the corner of Ohio 48 and Spring Valley Road, that Gilligan said may become the first shop to open. “If all goes according to plan, we could start construction in October and open in the beginning of 2014,” the franchise owner said.
• 1931 S. Limestone St. in Springfield, a former Taco Bell that could open as early as summer 2014.
• on Wilmington Pike near I-675 in Sugarcreek Twp., which could open by the end of 2014.
• in Kettering near the intersection of Wilmington Pike and East Stroop Road, which also could open by the end of 2014.
Gilligan said he has targeted the Monroe exit off I-75 for a location that is part of his Cincinnati-area franchises, where he has opened nine Dunkin’ Donut shops and has three under construction.
The franchise owner’s agreement with Dunkin’ Donuts calls for a minimum of 13 shops in the Dayton-Springfield and north Miami Valley area but Gilligan said he is shooting for about 20, in addition to the 30 he is projecting for the Cincinnati region.
Historically a doughnut and hot coffee chain, Dunkin’ Donuts has expanded its offerings in recent years to include frozen and iced beverages as well as other breakfast and lunch items.
