ABV: 6.50 percent
GLASS: Shaker Pint Glass
SERVING TEMP: 38 degrees
WHAT MAKES IT SO GOOD: The pour produces an exuberant fluffy head that is two or three fingers thick and dark as motor oil. An aroma tosses up vanilla, cocoa, and roasty espresso notes. Malty flavors play with chocolate, vanilla with a hint of molasses and then the creaminess gives way to a fairly clean finish with a hint of sweet chocolate.
SUGGESTED FOOD PAIRINGS: Rogue Chocolate Stout Cheddar Cheese, Jenni’s Ndali Estate Vanilla Bean Ice Cream floating in Oompa Loompa.
THE INFO: As an in-state brewery, one will find Fat Heads becoming more readily available. Brewed with Belgian Dark Chocolate and Madagascar Vanilla Beans, this is an indulgent beverage. And although it is a very flavorful and easy-drinking stout, it does have big flavors, yet it’s not a hugely complex alcohol bomb that needs plenty of time to enjoy properly. Because of the particular flavors, it plays well with desserts so it’s a one-and-done session.
PRICE: $10.99 for six 12-ounce bottles.
WHERE TO FIND: Available at craft beer locations in the Miami Valley.
