Two new Italian restaurants poised to open

Two new casual Italian restaurants — one in Kettering, one in Beavercreek — are scheduled to open within the next two months.

The Piada Italian Street Food restaurants coming to 4397 Far Hills Ave. in Kettering and to 3286 Pentagon Blvd. in Beavercreek will be the second and third entries into the Dayton-area market for the Columbus-based casual Italian chain.

The Kettering location, on the southwest corner of Ohio 48 and Villa North Drive in front of The Arbor shopping center, is scheduled to open the first week of September, and the Beavercreek location near the Mall at Fairfield Commons is slated to open in late September or early October, according to Piada spokeswoman Meghan Dauer.

The first Dayton-area Piada opened in October 2012 at 1047 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in Washington Twp.

Both the Kettering location — which is new construction — and the leased Beavercreek location will employ 35 to 40 people. The Kettering restaurant will seat about 66 diners inside, and another 68 on a patio; the Beavercreek restaurant will seat 76 inside and another 18 on a patio.

The Washington Twp. location has a liquor license, but neither of the two new locations will be serving alcohol when they open, Dauer said.

The Piada concept, featuring custom-rolled wraps, pasta bowls and salads, is the brainchild of Chris Doody, co-founder of the Bravo and Brio Italian restaurant chains. Doody told the Dayton Daily News last year that he chose the Dayton area as the first expansion of Piada outside of the Columbus area because the Dayton area “has been a great market for Brio and Bravo.”
