Hallmark movie featuring former ‘Desperate Housewives’ star to film in Lebanon

A Hallmark Channel movie featuring former “Desperate Housewives” star Nicollette Sheridan and Academy Award-winner Olympia Dukakis will be filmed over the next few weeks in Lebanon.

Production of “The Christmas Spirit” is scheduled to begin early next week, according to Hallmark Channel spokesman George Zaralidis.

The movie’s storyline calls for a location that has “the great American small town look, and Lebanon has that,” Zaralidis said.

“Everybody in Lebanon is pretty excited about this,” said Bridget Kochersperger, communications manager for the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “They’ll be doing almost 100 percent of their filming in town, and they’ll be transforming Lebanon into the Christmas season.”

The movie is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. Dec. 1, as part of the channel’s annual “Countdown to Christmas.” “The filming should take about three weeks, so that’s quite a quick turnaround,” Kochersperger said.

Initial plans called for the movie to be filmed elsewhere, but movie officials visited Lebanon and decided it would be a better location, Kochersperger said.

Zaralidis said there will likely be scenes during the movie’s production that require the use of extras, but no specifics were available.

Sheridan plays a journalist investigating a greedy developer. While she is in a coma following a car crash, her spirit must change the minds of the developer and the town even though she can’t be seen or heard.
