There is a large local fanbase for Celtic music, whether it be the overwhelming success of the annual Dayton Celtic Festival or recent concerts from touring acts like Lunasa, We Banjo 3 and Eileen Ivers. The Gem City is also home to hard-working Celtic groups such as Dulahan, Father Son and Friends and Jameson’s Folly.

While all these bands will be busy with shows on St. Patrick’s Day weekend, they aren’t just some conglomeration of musicians who come together every March to earn some quick cash. That’s certainly not true of these three bands, which perform year-round, doing club gigs, festivals and special events. Here’s a quick look at three of the region’s hottest Celtic groups and what they have planned for this holiday weekend.
