The 13th annual Chocolate Festival is slated to bring you an extra special treat, and it's not the chocolate.

On Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Coliseum, you’ll be able to celebrate Christmas a couple months early, as the chocolate festival commemorates its last 12 years.

Christmas could not possibly be complete without a nativity scene and decorations, so you can expect the Coliseum to be decked out.

Of course, there will be plenty of chocolate delicacies to snack on, from chocolate covered cheesecake on a stick to chocolate covered strawberries and even cream-filled chocolates.

In the past, they’ve been known to push the boundaries by offering chocolate-covered treats like crickets, bacon, and jalapenos.

Since you’ll get to enjoy the spirit of Christmas without the cold weather, you can even enjoy ice cream from Maggie Moos.

A Chocolate Recipe Contest will be held, with Dayton-area celebrity judges to pick the winners. The contest is open to anyone who may wish to participate; sign up on their website.

If the allure of chocolatey treats isn’t enough to convince your children, rest assured. The Dayton Kiwanis club will sponsor an entire kid’s play area, complete with games and a bounce house.

Don't forget to treat your ears, as well as your taste buds. A live entertainment stage will be sure to provide rocking performances, all day long.

Nashville Christian recording artist, Jamie Slocum will start the day with a performance at 10:30, and another at noon, with other local acts to follow.

Who wouldn’t want an excuse to celebrate Christmas twice this year?
