Labor Day week packed with lots of food and lots of fun

This weekend marks the unofficial end of summer — boo!

In addition to a day off and Labor Day sales galore, there’s a heavy calendar packed with events, leading up to and happening that weekend, looking to capitalize on the holiday. Here are several options worth considering if you find you have some time open on your calendar.

WHISKEY DINNER

Aug. 30: The Dublin Pub will be hosting a special four-course meal pairing Jameson 12-year Irish whiskey combined with the restaurant's August "Cigar Lovers Pairing." The menu sounds pretty fantastic, with herbed goat cheese on grilled ciabatta topped with pancetta and apricot jam, pickled red onions with a drizzle of whiskey-honey; pan fried smoked salmon rillette with whiskey hollandaise and watercress; bleu cheese and pecan crusted beef tenderloin with strawberry black pepper whiskey sauce and broccolini and vanilla spiced apple and Irish cheddar tart with house made whiskey caramel. The cost is $50 per person. Call for availability and more details.
