Head to the Bike Village where little ones can wheel around on the tot track, while older children take on fun obstacles on the mountain bike skills course. Next, visit the Mad River Mountain Action Sports Zone to test your slacklining skills after watching the pros. Families can also participate in heart-pumping fitness classes in the park, in addition to paddling in the Eastwood lagoon. Try one or all of the following activities during OutdoorX:

  • Climbing
  • Mountain Biking
  • Disc Golf
  • Fitness Programs

Presented by Whitewater Warehouse, freestyle whitewater kayakers hit the Mad River Run and execute tricks, including cartwheels, loops, mcleans, pirouettes and more. Slackliners perform backflips, front flips, butt bounces and more, and then encourage kids to try this fun activity in the Try-It area.

For kids who love animals, Team Zoom Disc Dogs will perform maneuvers during a high-flying choreographed routine, and watching dogs compete in the Buckeye Dock Dog competition or UpDog Challenge is always a hit with the kids.

4.) Rock out, camp out: If you don’t want to miss a moment of outdoor fun, families can opt to camp out at Eastwood MetroPark for the weekend. Spend your down time enjoying the outdoors, reading stories and catching up with family. During event hours, kids will love the Youth Outdoor School, featuring two days of fun programs, guided activities and s’mores.

Stick around on Saturday evening for the Princeton Tec Rock the Night Hunt, when families and individuals can build a custom headlamp and then embark on a mad dash to collect as many specially marked rocks as possible. Each rock placed on OutdoorX’s custom rock range represents a chance to win up to $500 worth of outdoor gear. Grab your headlamp and get ready to win with your family. Register in the Great Miami Outfitters Outpost, part of the Osprey Backcountry Zone.

5.) Learn something new: In addition to the myriad activities that get kids outdoors and active, there are also programs that engage kids with nature. MetroParks naturalists and OutdoorX partners will teach kids about local wildlife, leave no trace principles and much more.

OutdoorX also will have a host of local food trucks and live music for festival-goers to enjoy. Because Five Rivers MetroParks is a conservation agency, festival attendees are asked to help vendors, sponsors, and service providers keep OutdoorX a waste-free event. Recycling and composting stations will be set up throughout the park, and food vendors will be serving drinks and food on compostable dishware.
