The Miami County Food Truck Rally — an event that made its introduction to a good turnout in 2015 despite less than favorable weather — is back, and bigger.

The rally was organized as a fundraiser by the Miami County Agricultural Society for the Miami County Fairgrounds, which again will host the rally Saturday, May 21, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“Last year’s event was successful even with the weather not fully cooperating. We decided to continue for many reasons, one of which is the immense positive response we received from attendees last year,” said Roberta Jacobs, an event committee member from Troy.

More than 30 food vendors are expected for this year’s rally. The committee will have tables throughout the rally area as well as inside dining available.

Among food offerings as of early May were ice cream, soft pretzels, Mexican food, Korean BBQ, waffles, croquettes, bowls/wraps, kettle corn, chocolate covered strawberries, gourmet hot dogs, sausage, Asian cuisine and smoked meats.

Additional activities are planned for this year including arts and crafts and direct sales vendors, an entertainment tent and matinee harness racing. Although there won’t be betting with the racing, the racing will provide an opportunity for people to preview the upcoming racing season, Jacobs said.

Rally proceeds will help benefit the fairgrounds for use in maintaining the property and its buildings.
