A Wright State graduate’s small-screen project is about to hit the big screen.

The first six episodes of Leah Byrd's web series "Hot & Bothered" will be screened Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Neon movies, 130 East Fifth St. in downtown Dayton.

Admission is $8.

Advance tickets can be purchased on the film's EventBrite.com page.

The show, Byrd’s first film project of its size, discusses what it is like to be “black and queer in Midwestern America.”

She said it feels incredible that the show’s first season premiere will be in Dayton and at the Neon.

“Going to The Neon when I was in high school was one of my favorite things, and now my own work is gonna screen there. It's just a cool feeling. But I don't know, I'm just happy to be able to screen it in Dayton. The story takes place in Dayton and references the city throughout the episodes. It felt like the natural next step would be for the season one premiere to also take place in Dayton,” the Trotwood-raised, Chaminade-Julienne High School graduate said.
