Jazz luminaries will headline a weekend of music dedicated to promoting music education for students.

The Beavercreek Music Parents 19th Annual Weekend of Jazz Festival will be held March 1-2 at Beavercreek High School.

This year’s Friday night headliners will be the Special EFX All Stars with Emmy Award winning guitarist, composer and producer Chieli Minucci. The group marked its 35th year of recording and touring in 2018.

The Eastman New Jazz Ensemble will headline Saturday night. Based at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in New York, the ensemble has recorded six albums, and won the “Best College Big Band Award” from downbeat Student Music.

The festival will also have exhibition performances by more than 22 high school and middle school jazz bands and combos from throughout the region.

The annual event promotes music education and career possibilities for students who learn from professional jazz musicians while immersed in two-days of music.
