The best waffles in town are back for this once-a-year event

Waffle Shop at Christ Episcopal Church Dayton, which takes place Nov. 19-22, is one of our favorite food events in town, and for good reason.

The event is entering its 90th year and draws 1,600-2,000 people each year.

It’s the season of giving. And what better way to give than to get waffles in return. Katie Russell of Beavercreek pours batter into a waffle iron during a past Waffle Shop held at Christ Episcopal Church in Dayton. A craft bazaar and bake sale are also part of the event. LISA POWELL / STAFF

It's a community tradition that goes to a good cause, with profits given back to the community through a number of grants that are awarded every spring.

In 2019, the church distributed $17,877 in grants from Waffle Shop to local organizations involved in feeding, clothing and providing essential services to people in need within the Miami Valley. So you are really eating for a deliciously good cause.

Besides being a part of a community tradition that gives back, there are many flavorful reasons to plan on a Waffle Shop lunch this year.
