I had the opportunity to check out this class for myself. After sitting down and sipping on my mimosa it dawned on me: this is almost like an art class...and I have no artistic skill whatsoever. I panicked a little – luckily, there were mini-cupcakes from Twist Cupcakery, and after eating one I felt a little better (must have been the sprinkles).
I decided to check out my pile of calligraphy accouterments and size up how big a fool I was going to appear to be. First there's the pen, which seemed harmless enough, until I saw the little jar of black ink and realized my klutziness paired with my clean, white shirt had the potential for chaos. Next, I flipped through the pink folder and saw all kinds of instructions and extra paper, which gave me some confidence. Then, of course I picked up my little name badge and realized how badly I wanted to be able to write my name just like that.
The class started, and thanks to the patience and immense knowledge and experience of our teacher, Karen Gall of K Gall Events I felt at ease. I even surprised myself by catching on and creating some very pretty letters! The best part is that I can keep practicing, because they send you home with everything you need to master your new skill.
