News Center 7’s Cheryl McHenry gives a tour of the SkyWarn office just a few steps from the WHIO studio.

When severe weather looms, National Weather Service staffs the Dayton office with some of its trained volunteers to take reports from other trained volunteers out in the field in 15 counties in the Miami Valley and eastern Indiana.

These volunteers help keep their local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service.
