Supplies needed
Items I purchased:
• Stitch Witchery — $3.50 at JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts
• Two bags of white rice — $1 per bag at Kroger
Items I already had:
• 2-feet of cotton fabric
• Scissors
• Iron
• Lavender essential oil (optional)
• Damp towel
Directions
1. Cut your fabric into two identical pieces. I tried to make mine about 12 inches long so it can wrap around my neck, but you can make yours any size you want.
2. Place one piece of the fabric onto your ironing board with the backside facing up and cut your Stitch Witchery into three strips that run the length of three of your edges. On the corners, make sure to overlap your Stitch Witchery strips so that there are no gaps.
3. Place your other piece of fabric on top of the Stitch Witchery so that they back side is facing down.
4. Put a damp towel over your fabric and run your hot iron over the towel, letting it sit on each section of where the stitch witchery is for at least 10 seconds.
5. Once the three sides are secure, fill the bag in the opened side with plain white rice. Leave enough space to secure the last side.
6. Once full, add another strip of stitch witchery to the fourth and final side. Place your damp towel over it again and iron this side down for 10 seconds.
7. Once all sides are secure and sealed, you can place this in the microwave for a few minutes and have a heat wrap that will help your tired bones.
Tip: If you would like this to have a therapeutic scent, add some drops of essential oil to your rice. Let the mixture sit overnight in a plastic bag and then add it to the bag as mentioned above. This will give off a relaxing scent to your heat wrap every time you use it.
