3) The Breeders band was formed in 1989 as a side project for Kim Deal, while her other band, Pixies, was on a hiatus. The band quickly became a household name. With 1990's "Pod" and 1993's "Last Splash," the Breeders became icons of the era's alternative rock explosion.
4) The Deals are the children of Robert "Ed" and Mary Ann Spicer Deal. Robert Deal, a retired Air Force physicist, died in April.
Their brother Kevin Deal, is a member of the Friends of Levitt Pavilion Dayton board of trustees.
5) The Deal sisters love TV and were featured in the "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" episode "Him."
6) Kelley Deal is a knitter and even wrote a book about bags she's created. "Bags That Rock: Knitting on the Road with Kelley Deal" was released in 2009.
7) Kim Deal never thought "Last Splash" would be a hit. "We never thought anyone would hear us," she told Rolling Stone in 2013. "There was no intention of getting on the radio, ever. When we started, if you did get on to the radio, it meant there was something weirdly wrong. Like Paula Abdul."
