The work was commissioned by the dealership and faces the on ramp to I-75.
Deal literally had thousands of Dayton patented inventions to choose from.

"Dayton was the invention capitol of the world," Deal said. "There are so many patents from Dayton. So many of them are so abstract that you can't show them."
Deal said she wishes she could have painted her favorite Dayton invention, the mood ring.
"If (only) the paint would change colors," she said.

Deal’s work also appears on the business wall facing downtown Dayton.
That 74 feet work pays homage to the automobile and “See the world today in a Chevrolet,” the brands long time slogan.
White Allen opened on Main Street in 1935 and has had a number of murals over the years,
Tim White Jr., the Ohio operations director for the company, said.

“We just wanted to dress up that corner of Main Street and put some artwork on (the building),” he said of the sign welcoming motorists as they enter downtown Dayton from the highway.

White said most people know that things like the pop top and airplane were invented in Dayton, but will be surprised by some of the items in the mural.
“Hopefully it will inspire them to look further into it,” he said.

Dayton inventions on the mural include backpack parachute, all-steel propeller, self-starter, pop top, cash register, stepladder, movie camera, funk (guitar) bar code scanner, ice cube tray, parking meter, the directional compass with dual radio beam triangulation system, airplane and a football representing the first NFL game which was played in Dayton.

Dayton earned the nickname “Patent City USA” for the thousands of project patented here, including the yo-yo, airplane; airplane ejection seat; anti-ram raid plinth; artificial heart; artificial kidney; assisted service travel terminals; backpack parachutes; bar code scanner with tool free tower housing assembly; bicycle parking rack; card reader; cash register; collapsible, portable crib; stimulation for paralyzed muscles; double glass windows; and the electric cash register.
