Young cancer survivors reunite for inspirational photo shoot

Three girls who inspired people all over the world through photos of their courageous battle with cancer recently reunited.

In 2014, the families of Rheann Franklin, Ainsley Peters and Rylie Hughey shared an image of the three girls embracing each other. At the time, each girl was battling a different form of cancer. Franklin was diagnosed with mucoid spindle sarcoma, Peters was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and Hughey was diagnosed with bilateral Wilms tumors.

The original image, taken by photographer Lora Scantling, of Scantling Photography, quickly went viral. Scantling has done multiple photo shoots with the girls since then.

Along with sharing a new photo of the smiling, growing girls, Scantling offered "Today" an update. She said Franklin is happy and active, despite having permanently lost her hair and suffering an eye droop as side effects of the chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Peters finished chemotherapy in October and recent scans and counts looked good. Hughey is over two years cancer-free and is enjoying several activities.
