Shaffer, who has been serving as the security forces manager, 6th Security Forces Squadron, MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida, will replace Chief Master Sgt. Stephen Arbona, who is retiring with almost 30 years of service.
Shaffer entered the Air Force in March 2000. Throughout his career, he has served at varying levels in the security forces field at the squadron, joint and command level.
He has deployed in support of numerous humanitarian, contingency and combat operations in Africa, Europe, Middle East, South Asia and Pacific regions. He is a certified senior parachutist who has earned the German, Serbian, Belgian, French and Bosnian parachutist badges.
He has an associate degree in criminal justice from the Community College of the Air Force, a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in homeland security.
Shaffer is a graduate of the Air Force Senior NCO Academy and the Chiefs Leadership Course.
