Around 1:56 p.m., a 38-year-old Dayton man was driving a 2015 Nissan Murano north on County Road 25A.
The SUV went off the fight side of the road and hit a marked Miami County sheriff’s deputy cruiser stopped in a gravel lot under the Interstate 75 overpass, according to troopers.
Deputy Ryan Thobe and K9 Officer Vello were in the cruiser at the time of the crash.
Medics transported Thobe and the driver of the Nissan to Upper Valley Medical Center. K9 Officer Vello was taken to Stonyridge Veterinary Service and has been released.
Thobe was released from the hospital Friday morning, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash temporarily closed County Road 25A in both directions.
OSHP’s Piqua post is continuing to investigate the crash.
