When crews arrived, neighbors said people were seen coming and going from the house regularly, but no one was found inside, Dayton Fire District Chief Mike Fasnacht said.

Fasnacht said he was the first one to respond, and said there was heavy fire at the rear of the building.
Wind was a factor, and spread the fire to the houses to the north and south that also were vacant, he said. The exposure fire at the third house was quickly extinguished, and “crews got in all three houses” to put out the fires.
“The wind pushes the fire sometimes. It actually creates smoke conditions that makes it hard to see where is actually extending,” Fasnacht said.
Early Tuesday evening fire crews were still putting out hot spots.
