Fun fact: including today, there has been at least 1" of snow on the ground at Dayton (KDAY) for 24 straight days. This is the longest streak at the site in over 36 years (ended 02/22/1985)! The record, of course, was 1978 in which 1" of snow was on ground for 66 straight days.

The longest record for snow on the ground took place in 1978 after the Great Blizzard, which resulted in at least an inch of snow on the ground for a whopping 66 days, the NWS said.
Since January, the Miami Valley has seen several inches of snowfall and multiple snowstorms, some of which left area residents without power. Snow is beginning to melt as temperatures warm up, but storms over the past few weeks have resulted in nearly six inches of snow at the Dayton International Airport.
