$40,000 For Foreclosure Counseling Services In Springfield

Nearly $40,000 is coming to Springfield for foreclosure counseling services.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) announced that the money will go to the Neighborhood Housing Partnership of Greater Springfield, Inc.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development housing counseling grant will be used for support services for local howmowners facing foreclosure.

"Amid news of assembly-line foreclosures, we have not lost sight of the need to provide affordable housing to Ohio residents," said Brown. "These HUD housing counseling funds will help more homeowners modify their mortgages and stay in their homes. Housing counseling is one of the best ways to prevent the devastating effects that foreclosures have on families and communities."

The Neighborhood Housing Partnership of Greater Springfield, Inc. is a NeighborWorks home ownership center that provides support to residents seeking it.
