There will be a brief commemoration that will feature the inaugural African Liberation Day  celebration and a water libation to honor the elders, asking them to pass on wisdom and guidance, the release said.

Michael Motely, co-organizer of the event will announce the Proclamations from the City of Dayton and Montgomery County and the group’s proposal to nominate the Dayton View Park to be renamed Liberation Park.

“This is an event I feel the community should take part in every year,” Carlos Buford, co-organizer, said. “I’m glad we’re observing this day to celebrate the diversity of Africa.”
