Amazon now offering hands-on smart home in Kohl’s stores

Kohl’s has launched new “Amazon Smart Home” experiences in 10 of its stores.

The new smart home space is a “first-of-its-kind” area where customers can purchase Amazon devices, accessories and smart home devices directly from Amazon but in a Kohl’s store, according to the department store. The smart homes are 1,000 square feet each and provide a hands-on and interactive array of products, according to Kohl’s.

The Echo Dot, one of Amazon’s voice activated home assistants, as well as the streaming device Fire TV and Fire tablets are available in the smart home displays. The smart homes will demonstrate how Amazon’s products can modernize and simplify the management of one’s home, according to Kohl’s.

Customers can also schedule an appointment with an Amazon expert who can come to their home and evaluate which products they may need.

Kohl’s has 10 locations in the greater Dayton area but the new Amazon Smart Home will not be found at any of them. So far, the new smart homes have only been deployed in 10 stores in the Chicago and Los Angeles area,a according to the department store.
