The flood warning for Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Mercer, Montgomery and Preble counties in Ohio and Wayne County in Indiana expired at 9:30 tonight.
Flood warnings have been extended for some cities along the Great Miami as well.
Flood warnings expire Tuesday morning for the Great Miami River at Troy, where record-breaking flooding occurred as the river there crested at 16.58 feet at 8:45 a.m. Sunday. The record was 16.40 feet, set on June 11, 1958.
Flood warnings expire Tuesday afternoon for the river at Sidney, where the river crested 10 a.m. Sunday at 15.61 feet. It was 11.4 feet at 8:30 p.m. Flood stage is 10 feet.
Flood warnings expire Tuesday night for the river at Taylorsville (the river there crested at 28.5 feet at 4:45 a.m. Monday), and Middletown, where the river is expected to crest at 13.62 feet at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Flood stage there is 12 feet.
Flood warnings expire Wednesday morning for the river at Miamisburg, where the river is expected to crest at 19.96 feet at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. Flood stage there is 17 feet.
According to measurements, Taylorsville showed the highest water Monday as the river rose to 27.6 feet at 9 a.m. Flood stage there is 22 feet.
For Monday evening, a few stray snow showers with no accumulations are possible as a break in the clouds will send temperatures falling through the 20s and into the teens overnight, Vrydaghs said.
Some minor flooding remains for Tuesday morning as some areas along the Great Miami will still be above flood stage, she said. Most locations will drop below flood stage in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain in the teens, with wind chills measuring in the single digits.
Christmas Day Forecast
Conditions in the area will be partly sunny, breezy and cold but there is no chance for a white Christmas. Morning temperatures will start in the teens and climb into the low-30s by the afternoon.
A slow warming trend will begin Thursday and stretch into Saturday, Vrydaghs said, with highs each day reaching into the 30s.
