5 arrested after pills, heroin found in vehicle

Five people were arrested after 1,050 prescription painkillers were found inside a vehicle during a traffic stop on Interstate 71.

On Aug. 17, a canine alerted officers to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle, and the 1,050 OxyContil pills, along with 400 doses of heroin were found inside the vehicle.

The OxyContin pills had an estimated street value of $100,000 in most jurisdictions, according to a release. The demand for these particular pills would be higher because they were an earlier version of the pill that lacked an abuse resistance formulation, which is only in current versions of the drug.

Ruth Colter, Gerald Weber, Keith Laney, Derek Caldwell and Glenn Fetherston Jr. were arrested.
