2 arrested in shooting investigation

Police dispatched on a shots-fired call Thursday afternoon arrested two people and also discovered weapons, drugs and a suspected illegal liquor establishment.

Dayton police responded at 5:25 p.m. to North Paul Laurence Dunbar Street near West Riverview Avenue.

Officers initially had three people at gunpoint before arresting two of them, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch communications.

Robert Terry Ransby, Jr., 41, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and felonious assault, according to the Dayton police report.

Ransby allegedly shot at a woman but did not hit her, according to Lt. Wendy Stiver.

Leland B. Warnock, 52, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and having weapons under disability, according to the Dayton police report.

Officers also discovered what appeared to be a “small juke joint operation” in which liquor may have been sold illegally in the basement, Stiver said.

Police took several items as evidence during a search of the home at 746 North Paul Laurence Dunbar St.

Among the items taken were a machete, sword, digital scale, 12-gauge shotgun, .45-caliber handgun, .22-caliber rifle, SKS rifle and two boxes of ammunition.
