Corrections officers said Thomas J. Moyar, 51, was found non-responsive around 12:24 a.m. Thursday.
Medics from the Wapakoneta Rescue Squad responded to the scene and found Moyar deceased.
Moyar has been arrested on drug trafficking charges and was incarcerated on Dec. 1. Routine hourly checks had been done on Moyar, as it is done with all inmates.
Corrections officers spoke with Moyar around 11:21 p.m. At 12:01 a.m. a visual check was done. At 12:24 a.m., Moyar’s cell was entered to tend to his medical issues and he was found non-responsive.
The death is being investigated by the sheriff’s office and Auglaize County Coroner Dr. Thomas Freytag. An autopsy has been requested by the coroner’s office.
