Aurthorities Investigate Robberies Near WSU Campus

Four robberies is at least the fourth robbery in the past two months near Wright State University. Police said they would not confirm if this robbery is related to the other robberies that have happened.

According to a Wright State University spokesperson, a community notification letter was distributed after another robbery occurred off campus early Monday morning, The robbery happened at the Province Apartments near campus at approximately 1 a.m. Monday.

Police said the robber displayed a handgun and demanded money from the victim. The robbery left the area in an unknown direction from the apartment complex. No one was injured in the robbery.

According to police, a student was robbed last Tuesday night walking on Forest Lane, which is located off campus. Police said three other students were robbed in one robbery in the same place last month.

News of the robbery on Forest Lane quickly spread among students. Some said they saw police cars, and other said they were notified by the university.

Aerrinn Current said, "They emailed us. Wright State emailed us about the robbery."

According to Fairborn police records, a student was held at gunpoint around 9:30 p.m. Monday The report said the robber was wearing a mask and he demanded the student's wallet and then fled the scene.

About a month ago, police were called to the same location for a very similar crime. Now, the question is, are they related? Police said, "maybe."

According to police, the man responsible for the December robbery used the same method of operation, except at that time, he robbed three people, not one. Police said he had a similar description; however, the robber in December was not wearing a mask.

Police describe the robber in both robberies as a light-skinned black man who is about 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds. On Tuesday night, police said the robber was wearing a navy blue shirt with bright yellow buttons and horizontal stripes.
