Officers arrived and found shattered glass all over the front of the store. They said it appears that the two men threw a rock at the front glass doors but the doors were double-paned and did not break.
The men then used the rock to shatter a large glass window next to the front doors and made their way in.
Store employees cover most of the display cases at night but it appears that the two men took a few items from one and possible two of the display cases.
Employees and managers are conducting an inventory to see what may have been taken. At this time, it appears a few ladies watches and some rings were stolen.
The store did have a number of security features, including alarm systems and surveillance cameras.
Sgt. Jim Wuebben said, “Yes, there is surveillance video. However, they are having some technical difficulties in trying to get that video. I can tell you that we're looking for two black males, there's no vehicle description either so right now the information we have is sketchy and vague.”
Officers are trying to determine if the men had another person waiting for them in a vehicle. None of the store's cameras focused on the parking lot and were only focused on the store's entrance and interior.
Police said the store’s alarm company actually records the in-store video in Cincinnati. They are waiting for technicians to provide them with copies of it so it can be released for public viewing in an effort to identify the men responsible.
Beavercreek police are asking anyone that may have seen anything suspicious in the mall area around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to give them a call at 426-1225.
