Bill’s Donut Shop to reopen after renovations

Bill’s Donut Shop on North Main Street in Centerville closed July 1 for a week of renovations. It is set to reopen at 3 p.m. July 8, co-owner Jim Elam told this news organization.

The store will be getting some renovations while it’s closed for a week, Elam said.

New air conditioning units will be installed as will new doughnut display cases, he said. The store’s parking lot will also be repaved.

Owners chose to close the store during the first week of July because of road closures from Centerville’s Fourth of July celebration known as the Americana Festival. With nearby roads closed, business at Bill’s Donuts usually slows down that week anyway, Elam said.

Bill’s Donut Shop has been named one of the best places for doughnuts by several national publications.

Last year, Business Insider ranked Bill’s Donut Shop No. 2 on its list of “The 15 Best Donut Shops in America.”

Bill’s was the only doughnut shop in Ohio to be included in Saveur magazine’s March 2013 story entitled “The World’s Best Donuts: The 50 Finest Donut Shops in America.” A month later, USA Today named Bill’s one of the “10 Great Places to Get Doughnuts” in the United States.

In April 2015, Bill’s Donut Shop was named one of the “33 Best Donut Shops in America” by the web site Thrillist.com. It was the only doughnut shop in Ohio to be included in the “best-in-the-U.S.” list.
