Beavercreek furniture store evacuated for fire

All employees of Valu-City Furniture in Beavercreek were able to evacuate safely after a breaker box caught fire.

Just after 12 noon Sunday, numerous Beavercreek Township emergency vehicles responded to 2675 Fairfield Commons Blvd on a report of the store filling with smoke. Fire Dispatch also reported that employees were evacuating the building and that the power was out.

Upon arrival, fire crews saw light smoke in the building and were able to locate a breaker box which was smoking with a small fire. W.P.A.F.B. Fire had been requested to send a ladder truck for mutual aid. The fire was put out and the adjacent retail store was checked for possible additional fires.

Lt. Ryan Williams with the Beavercreek Township Fire Department said there may have been an issue with some of the wiring at the breaker box.

Repairs were expected to be made Sunday afternoon to reopen the store.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire crews cleared the scene at 1:05 p.m.
