Car slams into building in Clayton; police take driver into custody

The driver who slammed a vehicle into a vacant structure in Clayton is suspected of operating the vehicle while intoxicated, Clayton police said.

She was taken into custody by police. She was not injured and appears to have been alone in the vehicle.

The building, which appears to be a former business located in the 7800 block of Salem Pike (state Route 49) at Hoke Road, was struck about 9:15 p.m.

The impact displaced several bricks and folded the hood of the car.
