Xenia Avenue house fire displaces Dayton family of 4

UPDATE @ 7:49 a.m.:

Four people evacuated safely after a house fire originated in the wall of a two-story double in the 800 block of Xenia Avenue Sunday morning.

Crews made entry shortly after 6:35 a.m. and extinguished the fire quickly, Dayton Fire Department Battalion Chief Brad Baldwin said.

The displaced family of two adults and two children, will be assisted by the American Red Cross while investigators determine the cause of the fire.

Xenia Avenue will reopen within the next half hour, Baldwin said.

FIRST REPORT:

Crews were dispatched to the 800 block of Xenia Avenue after smoke was seen coming from a two-story residence Sunday morning.

The fire was reported at 6:35 a.m. and labeled as a “working fire,” Montgomery County Regional Dispatch said.
