Dayton fundraiser set for immigrant, refugee services

An event next month seeks to raise money to support services for immigrants and refugees in the Dayton area.

The Dayton Human Relations Council on Nov. 8 will host “One City: Many People, Many Voices.”

The event seeks to invest in welcoming immigrants who are already here and those who may come in the future, supporters say.

Proceeds from the event will support legal services, leadership training and continued education and outreach for immigrant and refugee communities.

“Many changes that affect our local immigrant communities have been occurring at the federal level,” according to a summary of the fundraiser. “In light of these changes, Welcome Dayton and our community partners believe that it is more important than ever to come together to support our immigrant communities.”

The event will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 8 at Brightside, 905 E. Third St.

There will be appetizers "celebrating Dayton's international flavors," entertainment by Rev. Cool. and a cash bar, supporters say. More information about the event can be found here.
