The man and woman were not injured, and rescuers called the incident “a non-emergency response.” Once rescue boats were launched, it took a matter of minutes to bring them back to shore. The man and woman were not identified.
Lockington Fire Chief Jon Adams said it is a beautiful day to be on the river, but that boaters must be careful. The water is deep and the current swift, he said.
In addition to the Lockington Fire Department, the Sidney Fire Department’s water rescue team also responded.
Fire officials said those who spot an empty lime green kayak drifting south on the river should not be alarmed.
