NFL’s gift to Dayton is same turf field used by Seahawks, Falcons

Dayton commissioners tonight voted to accept the estimated $444,000 donation from the NFL of a regulation professional football field at Triangle Park.

The field the National Football League will construct in Dayton to honor the first ever NFL game will have the same turf as that used by the Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons.

A company called FieldTurf has partnered with the NFL to install a new “Revolution 360” turf field at Triangle Park, which hosted the first NFL game on Oct. 3, 1920, between the Dayton Triangles and the Columbus Panhandles.

The new field, near where the first game was played, will be about 85,000 square feet, will have football markings and will be fenced in.
