Students, staff and community members gathered to celebrate Rodriguez meeting her new companion, a Golden Doodle.

Rodriguez’s service dog was the third in three years that Pups for People has been able to present.

The students in the local group organized multiple fundraisers throughout the year to make Monday’s event possible.

Rodriguez was born with Arthrogryposis. The condition makes muscles around joints thin, weak or stiff. In some cases, muscle is missing from around joints. Her lower extremities have been affected, constricting her legs.

Pups for People presented Rodriguez with a service dog to give her companionship and independence.
