One-time Republican candidate for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District Sam Ronan was arrested by two Springboro police officers early this morning while streaming the incident live on his Facebook page.
The live stream, which has over 10,000 views, shows Ronan yelling at police officers demanding to know why he is under arrest. Ronan claims the officers are arresting him without cause and claims “assault with excessive force.”
Ronan tells police they are on Facebook Live after one officer points a taser at him.
Ronan was booked into the Warren Co. Jail at 2:41 a.m. and charged with Failing to Comply with Order or Signal of Police, Obstructing Official Business and Obstructing Justice. He is currently awaiting arraignment with a bail amount listed at $60,000.
Republican incumbent Steve Chabot defeated Ronan in last month’s primary.
